Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. She was the main female performer in Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. She was one of several female artists that benefited from Prince's collaboration in the 1980s. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career began as a model actress in the late '70s and included an appearance on the TV show CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the female lead for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time he switched her names) and was replaced by Vanity in the female trio Vanity 6 which performed in the film under the name Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter, the group's minor hit song in the film's soundtrack, was her greatest chart hit. Kotero's relationship with Prince came to an end when the duo disagreed on the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the group she was part of had a broke up. In the wake of appearing in minor film (and reportedly refusing to be a part in her role in the Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon), she was part of the 1985-1986 evening drama Falcon Crest. Apollonia made her debut album in 1988, however it was an average mix of dance and R&B music which did not attract the attention of the general audience. It quickly vanished out of sight. Apollonia was active, even if she wasn't in the spotlight acting in the decade following with small film and television roles. A workout DVD was made available. Apollonia released a CD in Spanish and English called Stay with Me in 1997. After returning to school, she, received a diploma in filmmaking.
